Dive stores today sell a wide selection of scuba regulators. Alec shows how early divers built their own from World War 2 surplus parts and magazine instructions. Don't try this at home kids.

- July 1953 Popular Science with instructions on how to "Build Your Own Diving Lung" by Herb Pfister, page 160
- two home made diving units from the mid 1950's using WW2 oxygen diluter valves
- parts required: a surplus WW2 oxygen diluter valve, 2 aircraft or fire extinguisher tanks, gas mask hoses, plumbing fittings and army webbing for straps
- a 1960's diving unit from "Supreme Divers" of Toronto, Canada, run by Lou Singer
- Supreme Divers make scuba units from war surplus parts and sold complete units to divers, just add water!!
