Sardinia is a surprising diving destination! A Mediterranean island, it is located south of Corsica and to the west of Italy. What is fascinating here is how pristine the water is! Just enough to have this endless and everchanging 'blue feeling' most divers dream about! The seashores are mostly granite rocks sculpted by Neptune and Aeolus, Gods of the Sea and the Winds, over the millennia. The Maddalena Archipelago National Park is highly important in regards to history as it protects several fragile Roman shipwrecks, thousands of years old, and is one of the Mediterranean sea's best kept marine reserves. On one of its islands, Guiseppe Garibaldi (one of the Fathers who unified Italy) settled from 1854 untill his death in 1882.
Sardinia is at its best for diving in the summer months. Take your time and explore the islands of Quirra, Serpentara and Cavoli, but also Tavolara off Porto San Paolo. Find out about the shipwreck 3 Fratelli (or 3 Brothers), the wreck in the Gulf of Angeli or the dive site Sacca del Papa (or The Pope's Drop-off), probably one of the best dive sites you'll ever dive in the Med! As a matter of fact most of the places here are well above your average dive sites...
With caves and densely populated drop-offs, Sardinia won't let you down! Though the visibility is often so good that you can lose track of your depth: watch your instruments and have fun!
