NAUI Dive Team Report - Queen of Mantas

What’s on your scuba diving Bucket List? One adventure you may want to add is sure to excite and leave you wanting more – diving with manta rays!

Tune in as #NAUI Dive Team Report Host Greg Martin and conservation biologist and emerging explorer, Dr. Andrea Marshall (aka. “Queen of Mantas”), discuss the ecology and conservation of manta rays.

As a PhD student in Africa, Dr. Marshall was the first researcher to earn her doctorate by studying manta rays. This piqued the interest of the BBC who followed her work for nearly two years, producing an award-winning Natural World documentary, Manta Queen.

Dr. Marshall wants people to know that fish can be charismatic and curious and engaging so that people want to get more engaged in marine science and conservation: “The manta ray is one of the most engaging animals you can spend time with underwater…in terms of their curiosity and their wanting to interact with humans.”
